How architects and botanical stylists map inverse-square photon decay across plaster, stone, and north-lit residential volumes.
The Inverse-Square Law Inside the Room
Human pupils dilate logarithmically, making a room three meters from a window appear nearly as bright as the sill itself. For chloroplasts, however, radiant flux drops precipitously with distance. Designing enduring interior plantscapes requires matching sclerophyllous heliophiles like Olea europaea to the glazing threshold while reserving understory marantads and ferns for deeper acoustic alcoves.
